Galeries Lafayette's Shoes Paradise

17th August 2009

A brand new shoe shopping venue

Last July 15th, the famous French department store, Galeries Lafayette inaugurated the world’s largest shoe floor at its Paris flagship.

Figures are impressive: 3,000 square meters, 150 brands, 75 of which are exclusively sold at Paris Haussmann Galeries Lafayette in France, 12,000 styles from high heels to pumps, and special customer services.

A refreshing design

That astonishing floor has been designed by the architect duet Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manku (who have created the atmosphere of the Bar du Plaza Athénée and revamped Van Cleef&Arpels boutique on Place Vendôme and the Eiffel Tower’s restaurants among others). Shoppers are welcomed at the lower ground level on a spacious, modern space with middle-height shelves, warm lightening and materials.
Witty word plays are disseminated on mirrors in white letters: “Haut perchée, tu mets la mode à mes pieds” (literally On high heels, you put the fashion at my feet), “Toutes il me les faut toutes” (lit. All, I need all of them)…

Amazing brand list and thrilling services

The floor is divided in different areas: luxury (Jimmy Choo, Sergio Rossi, Gucci, Prada, Chanel, Dior, Fendi…), trendy (Nine West, Repetto, Ash, Robert Clergerie, Colisée de Sacha…) and urban (Camper, Pataugas, Cosmo, Free Lance…). Even the most it-shoe designer of the moment, Gianvito Rossi has its corner. A real shoe-paradise!
But shopping in such a behemoth floor could be intimidating and exhausting… Not a problem, Galeries Lafayette have thought of everything: private fitting rooms and a foot beauty salon are at your disposal.

Should you find these shoes are too big to fill, there is even a cobbler corner to repair your old ones!
